First dates are really important for making a first impression and a bad first date can mean a deal breaker. No-no #1: Talk about who is going to pay. There’s no reason to ever bring up the discussion of payment for the date in your conversation. Talking about money makes things feel forced and it’s much better for it to come up naturally, say when you pull out your purse at the end of the meal and start to get your card or cash. If he tells you to put it away, you know he’s paying. If not, assume you’re going dutch for the night. If he is expecting you to pay, end the date right there.

No-no #2: Leave your apartment or yourself a mess. Most women don’t expect to be bringing a man back to their place on a first date, but hey, it happens. If it does, you don’t want to leave your date waiting in the hallway while you hurry to clean up and if things make it to the bedroom you definitely don’t want any self-conscious feelings getting in the way.

Of course there will be things during your first date that you can’t control, such as the service you receive or bad weather, but your date won’t be judging you on the things going on around you. Even if a date is bad due to things outside your control, your date will decide if he wants another based on you.
